Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference in compartments and open seats? Compartments have two upholstered seats, facing each other, in a private booth-like space. Open seats are also seated in heritage carriages, this time around tables for up to four people.
If I book for two people, will I share my table? No.
If I book for three people, will I share my table? No.
Do you offer private compartment bookings? Yes, both traditional and first class.
Can you cope with allergies? We do our best to accommodate allergies but cannot gurantee. Please notify us when you have booked so we can make the appropriate notes. Please note that all food and drink is prepared and distributed close to each other and so there is likely to be cross-contamination. Safety first is really important so if an allergy or intolerance is severe, please do not eat the main or alternative option.
What is the present? A lovely teddybear is the present for all children of both genders aged under 12 with a new jumper for 2024!
When will these trains operate? November 30th, every Saturday and Sunday in December up to the 22nd and Monday 23rd.
How long is the journey? The journey is between 75 and 90 minutes in total.
Where does the train leave from? The train leaves from Gwili Railway’s Abergwili Junction station in Carmarthen near the hospital. The postcode is SA31 2DG.
I have limited mobility but can walk short distances? There are walks involved in a visit but there are things we can do to lessen these if you notify us when booking. Note that there are two steps onto the train, assisted by a grab handle.
Can I come as a wheelchair user? Please contact us prior to booking so we can discuss your individual needs.
Is it possible to book first class? We have a very limited number of first class compartments available.
Will we be seated together? All people on the same booking are seated together. If you would like to sit with another booking under a different name, you must contact us in advance.
Do you have car parking? Yes, there is a large free car park at Abergwili Junction station, SA31 2DG, where this journey starts and ends.
I expected to have an email by now with details of my trip included? Our pre-vist emails are sent approximately five days before the journey.
One of my party is unwell / other reason means I cannot attend. Can we have a refund / transfer to another date? Refunds and transfers are only available up to one week before the date. After this, transfers or refunds are not possible.
