This Christmas, step aboard Santa's Magical Steam Train at Blaenavon's Heritage Railway for a truly festive family adventure.
Your journey begins as our cheeky elves and Mother Christmas welcome you on baord and spread plenty of festive cheer. Then it's time for the big moment - Santa himself will visit every family personally at their reserved table or private compartment, with a wonderful present for each child on his Nice List!
During your journey, children can enjoy their gingerbread biscuit, juice, storybook, and activity sheet, while grown-ups tuck into a festive mince pie. Whether seated in an exclusive compartment or around shared tables, this journey is full of magic, laughter, and memories to treasure.

Points to Note:
- The number of persons shown for each compartment is the maximum permitted. As an exception, one infant per compartment may be added (to sit on the knee).
- All child, infant and gift-tin add on must be purchased alongside at least one adult ticket.
Seating Types


A traditional private compartment featuring comfortable bench style seating, walls and a sliding door.
A traditional 1950/60s coach with an open style interior. Seats are arranged around tables of 4.

No, your table will be reserved exclusively for your party.
The standard food item in the complimentary package is a gingerbread biscuit in the shape of a steam train.
For children who have allergies or intolerances, we offer Nomo chocolate which are plant-powered and free from dairy, gluten, egg and nuts. There is no need to contact us in advance - simply ask a member of our team at the check in desk for the allergy-free alternative.
Every child aged 12 and under will receive a lovely teddy bear as their present. The 2025 design is brand new, so returning visitors will receive a different bear to last year.
We welcome visitors with additional accessibility needs and will always do our best to make your journey enjoyable and comfortable.
- Limited mobility: If you are able to walk short distances, you should be able to enjoy the experience. Please note that there are some walks involved, and boarding the train requires two steps up, assisted by a grab handle.
- Wheelchair users: Facilities vary between services, and not all trains have a wheelchair accessible area. Please contact us prior to your booking so we can discuss your needs in further detail.
No, Santa's Magical Steam Train does not feature a first-class option, but you can choose to book a private compartment for your group.
Yes, all tickets booked under the same booking are automaticaly seated together.
If you'd like to sit with friends or family separately, please contact us no later than the Tuesday before your visit, and we'll do our best to allocate you seats together.
