Event Summary
Give the gift of a journey on a lovingly restored heritage steam train and travel back in time on the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway in the lovely Derbyshire Dales and partake in the quintessentially British pastime of enjoying a cream tea during the journey.
You'll take in the picturesque scenery on a 16 mile round trip from Wirksworth, just 14 miles from Derby.
Each booking is seated on an exclusive table in the 1950s-built vintage carriage for this experience making this a great way to celebrate a birthday or other special occasion.
You can also upgrade to a private compartment like in the films for £25 per booking (not per person).

The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway offers step-free access from the car park onto the platforms. Ramps are available to assist boarding the train.

Yes, most journeys have a licensed bar on board where you can purchase additional drinks. There is also a cafe at the station, and you're welcome to bring any items you've purchased there with you on board.

All altercations or cancellations must be made no later than the Tuesday prior to your departure, as we begin preparing for your arrival after this time. Unfortunately, once this deadline has passed, we are unable to make any further changes.
There are limited toilet facilities available on board the train. However, the main toilets, including accessible facilities, are located at both Wirksworth and Duffield Stations.

Please note that access to your seats on board is usually limited before departure, as the train spends only a short time in the station between trips.
You're welcome to bring decorations to display in your compartment or on your table. For safety and preservation reasons, only Blue Tack is permitted - no tape or pins please.
If you'd like to bring a birthday cake, that is absolutely fine; however, candles are not permitted on board.
