Event Summary
Step back in time on board Britain's longest standard gauge heritage railway for a 23-mile scenic steam train journey from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead.
Enjoy both scenic countryside and views over the coast through the window as you chuff along on the outbound leg of the journey, then spend some time at Minehead Station where you will be able to see the locomotive against a backdrop of the sea front. Maybe pop into the Buffer Stop Shop for gifts and souvenirs or Readers Halt, a second hand book shop.
A delicious cream tea consisting of locally baked scones with jam and clotted cream, plus tea and coffee will be served to your table on the return leg of the journey as you chuff back to Bishops Lydeard.
At over three hours in length, this journey is a true experience to be remembered.

- Depart Bishops Lydeard at 10:15, arriving in Minehead at 11:35. Spend some time at the station. Depart Minehead at 12:20 when the cream tea will be served. Arrive back at Bishops Lydeard 13:35.
- Depart Bishops Lydeard at 14:25, arriving in Minehead at 15:50. Spend some time at the station. Depart Minehead at 16:35 when the cream tea will be served. Arrive back at Bishops Lydeard 17:50.

The cream tea is served on the return leg of your journey, when the train departs back from Minehead. The West Somerset Railway is a long railway with the return journey, including the pause at Minehead station, being some 3 hours 15 minutes in length. This makes the food service fall into the afternoon.
The deadline for cancellations or amendments to your booking is the Tuesday before you travel. After this time we are unable to make any alterations as preparations are underway for your arrival. We will be unable to give refunds after this time too. Please contact us as soon as possible if you wish to make an amendment to your booking.
