Step into a beautifully restored 1st class carriage built in 1950, and enjoy the elegance of steam travel on the Great Central Railway. With plush surroundings and reserved seating, this is the perfect way to relax, celebrate a special occasion and savour a traditional cream tea.
Your 16-mile round trip travels through the stunning Leicestershire countryside, passing two heritage stations - Quorn & Woodhouse, recreated in a 1940s style, and Rothley, preserved as if in the early 1900s.
During the journey, indulge in a classic British cream tea served to your seat - freshly served scones with jam & cream and a mini cake, accompanied by unlimited tea or coffee.
Points to Note:
- Reserved 1st class seating is included with every booking.
- This journey is not suitable for wheelchair users (please see our fish & chips service at this location which is fully accessible).
- We do offer single tickets; however, these can only be purchased by contacting our enquiries team at [email protected]
- Children's tickets are not available to purchase on this service.

We can provide gluten-free and dairy-free alternatives if notified in advance. Please let us know your dietary requirements by the Tuesday before your travel date to ensure we can accomodate you.
There are limited toilet facilities available on board the train. However, the main toilets, including accessible facilities, are located at both Leicester North and Loughborough Central Station.
Due to the age of the heritage carriages and their fixed seating arrangement, we are unable to seat wheelchairs and mobility scooters in the main carriages.
However, if you are able to transfer we will happily provide assistance for you to board the train and allocate you the most appropriate seating so that you can comfortably enjoy your journey. Please contact our enquiries team at [email protected] to arrange this.
Yes, most journeys also have a licensed bar on board where you can purchase additional drinks. There is also a cafe at the station, and you're welcome to bring any items you've purchased there with you on board.

All altercations or cancellations must be made no later than the Tuesday prior to your departure, as we begin preparing for your arrival after this time. Unfortunately, once this deadline has passed, we are unable to make any further changes.

Please note that access to your seats on board is usually limited before departure, as the train spends only a short time in the station between trips.
You're welcome to bring decorations to display in your compartment or on your table. For safety and preservation reasons, only Blue Tack is permitted - no tape or pins please.
If you'd like to bring a birthday cake, that is absolutely fine; however, candles are not permitted on board.
