Steam Locomotive Driving Experience Vouchers (Nottinghamshire)
Event Summary
The gift that allows them to realise that childhood dream and take the controls of a beautifully restored Austerity steam locomotive at the Great Central Railway Nottingham.
They can perfect their skills at both firing and driving whilst they are on the footplate for an experience which lasts approximately 80 minutes. Skilled instructors will show them the controls, brief them on how to control the locomotive and monitor their progress.
Once they have returned, they can explore the wider Transport Heritage Centre at Ruddington.
The Great Central Railway was once a main line route from London to the north. They'll see first hand how the line was constructed for this use and pass artefacts and history.

Important Notes:
- Participants cannot be accompanied by guests such as partners on the journey - but photographs will be taken to prove you did it, and then you can explore the site together.
- Participants must be 18 or over, and physically fit enough to board / alight the locomotive using vertical steps from the ground.
- Please arrive around 30 minutes before your session begins for a safety briefing.
- The locomotive will be "light engine" - IE without carriages.
- You may take it in turns at driving and firing with another participant at the same time.
