Roaming Event Lead
Do you have an interest in heritage? Experienced in providing an excellent day out for visitors? Excited to travel around the UK?
Fox & Edwards Events is a business working with heritage railways right around the UK to attract new visitors through themed journeys with fish & chips, cream teas, licensed characters, Christmas and more. In 2025, we welcomed over 120,000 visitors from Scotland to Kent and our expansion is supporting this central new role.
We are seeking to recruit a full time Roaming Event Lead to join our existing operations team and lead our journeys at our partner railways all around the UK. The role will involve travelling to our partner railways throughout the season and leading the event including managing a small team of event staff, leading the visitor experience on the day, managing included items and ensuring that all visitors have a wonderful time.

The desirable candidate should:
-

-
Be reliable;
We're open to applicants with a wider range of experience and can be somewhat flexible about start date.
It is important for the successful candidate to have their own transport and be based within the East Midlands. You should also be comfortable driving small vans. It is anticipated that two days per week will be based at the company office in Derbyshire. The role will require the candidate to travel to host railways away from home one in two weekends during the February to December season and involve staying locally for the duration of the event (generally 1 or 2 nights).
A typical pattern may be:
Week 1:
Wednesday - Office day (preparing for the weekend, seating lists etc)
Thursday - Office day (preparing for the weekend, assisting with stock control)
Friday - Shorter day, working from home in the morning and then travelling to a railway
Saturday - Run event on site & stay over
Sunday - Run event and travel back
Week 2:
Wednesday - Office day (preparing for the weekend, seating lists etc)
Thursday - Office day (preparing for the weekend, assisting with stock control)
Friday - Shorter day, working from home in the morning and then travelling to a railway
Saturday - Run a local event
Sunday - Run a local event
This is not fixed as calendar and seasonality can alter it.
We work with heritage railways all around the UK and therefore the role presents the opportunity for the successful candidate to travel and stay over in Central Scotland, Wales, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, Tyneside and more!
Hours of work:
Role is nominally 37.5 hours per week. Most trips operate at weekends and bank holidays, however and therefore the working week would nominally be Wednesday to Sunday.

£32,500 gross pa.
