August - Saturday 3rd
September - Saturday 28th
Step on-board a heritage steam train and travel back in time on the Tanfield Railway from Andrew's House station (Postcode NE16 5ET). Enjoy the varied views along the line, take photographs at the famous Causey Arch next to the railway, make great memories and tuck-into a tasty fish & chips accompaniment.
Board vintage carriages from the 1880s to the 1930s, hauled by a steam locomotive at Andrew's House. There is a big free carpark here.
We then steam along the line to the mid-point where Fish and chips (or sausage and chip / cheese patty and chips it as alternatives, chosen when booking) are served/collected. You will also be given a drink and scrumptious flapjack or large biscuit.
Subject to suitable weather, we make a pause on the return journey to see the Causey Arch - an iconic North East industrial structure in an impressive valley setting.
The journey takes approximately 70 minutes including food collection and Causey Arch pause.
Trains depart at times between 14:30 and 18:00, found on our booking system.
We have some great reviews from our several years of operating steam train services, including:
"It was nice to have a bit of nostalgia from childhood memories"
"Staff was pleasant and helpful polite, questions through emails was quickly answered fantastic service"
"Lovely relaxing day out"
"Thank you to all who helped make our day feel really special. We all felt like VIP's. Well done!"
Dogs are welcome on-board, but must not travel on seats.
Please note that seating is arranged in a mixture of shared compartments without tables and open coaches. Groups may be seated together, but plenty of space is allowed and all groups sit with everyone in their party.
Seating Upgrades. It is possible to upgrade to a private table as a couple for £15. This charge is per booking, not per person.
