September - Saturdays 21st / 28th
October - 13th / 19th / 26th
Step on-board a beautifully restored 1st class carriage pulled by a steam locomotive on the Kent and East Sussex Railway in the lovely "Garden of England". Admire the passing views, make great memories and enjoy an afternoon tea at your seat.
Take in the picturesque scenery on a round trip of 21 miles from Tenterden (where there is free car parking - postcode TN30 6HE) in a heritage carriage from the 1950s or early 1960s, hauled by a steam locomotive. The trip takes just under two hours - perfect for getting a good "fill" of nostalgia or celebrating a birthday, anniversary or other special occasion.
We will be using a Maunsell carriage, built in the glamorous 1930s and named after its designer. Fitted with generous, comfortable armchair-style seating like the famous express trains of the Art Deco period, it can transport you back into the golden age. It is seen above with red seats.
Departure time typically between 12pm and 3:30pm, shown when booking.
The afternoon tea is served at your seat during the journey and contains sandwiches, cakes, scones, other tasty items and hot drinks. Yummy!
We have some great reviews for our journeys including:
"I can thoroughly recommend the cream tea and steam train ride experience from Tenterden. The staff were very welcoming and attentive and the tea was of a very high standard"
"We had a lovely afternoon on the steam train with the most delicious teas"
"Just had an amazing tea experience - loved every moment!"
We are unable to welcome dogs on this trip.
